Strengthening Our Roots: A Conference For and About Families with Children on the Autism Spectrum

Title/Description: Organizations across Indiana have collaborated to host a conference focused on providing practical information for families living with an individual on the autism spectrum. Our hope is to provide an opportunity for you to gain useful information, network with others, and learn about the various resources in Indiana. The following topics will be offered during the one day conference:

* Transition to Adulthood: Larry Schaaf
* Communicating with Legislators: Liz Freeman Floyd and Jeff Sell
* Puberty and Your Child with ASD: Melissa Dubie
* Visual Supports: Barbara Bloomfield
* Personal Perspectives in Autism: Jerry Newport
* Addressing Behavioral Challenges: Cathy Pratt
* Sensory Integration: Diane Stacker and Janet Lovett
* Social Skills Instruction: Kelly Ernsperger
* Autism and Grief: Susan Pieples and Kelly Ernsperger
* Diagnosis: Asperger's or Not?: Dan Ryan
* Applied Behavioral Analysis: Kristen Wier
* Floortime/DIR Model: Jane Schmidt
* Use of Visual Supports: Barbara Bloomfield

This workshop is geared for family members and those interested in learning more about supporting children on the autism spectrum.
